Cheryl's Room

nano_09_winner_100x100With eleven hours and nine minutes to spare, I completed the first draft of my novel for National Novel Writing Month, writing the last sections while recovering from swine flu.    I have many drafts ahead of me, but for now I am just enjoying the pleasure of accomplishing the goal I set at the beginning of month, to write 50,000 words in thirty days.  I’d like to thank The Office of Letters and Light for sponsoring this wonderful project and all those who supported me on facebook as I made my slow but steady progress towards my goal.

Bravo!!!!! This was NOT slow and steady progress – it was fast and amazing progress. And with swine flu, too – and without even expanding your contractions?

Quote of the Moment:

“It is only when you open your veins and bleed onto the page a little that you establish contact with your reader. If you do not believe in the characters or the story you are doing at that moment with all your mind, strength, and will, if you don't feel joy and excitement while writing it, then you're wasting good white paper, even if it sells, because there are other ways in which a writer can bring in the rent money besides writing bad or phony stories.”
