DSC_0087The day finally arrived.  We woke up at 3:30 AM, our car to the airport picked us up at 4:30 AM and then at 10:30 AM we were finally on Disney soil.   As soon as we passed under the welcoming arch, we felt the stress of our daily lives melt away and entered  a world where dreams really do come true.

So often in life events which are so eagerly anticipated, fail to live up to our expectations.   But when we visit Walt Disney World, the experience is always worth the wait and usually exceeds all of our expectations.   When we enter our resort, the welcoming cast members greet us with ‘Welcome Home” and we feel that we are home at last.    And so we look forward to ten glorious days of rest, renewal, relaxation and inspiration, with a lot of walking inbetween.   We are also looking forward to spending a day with our friend Jody whom we have not seen for almost 20 years.   And spending time with Mickey and Minnie is magical, too.

Our Friendly Waiter at the Crystal Palace

Cheryl and Our Friendly Crystal Palace Waiter

In three days Carey and I will be on vacation at Walt Disney World.   We did most of our packing on Saturday and are now down to counting the hours.  We go twice a year and start counting the days to our next trip while we are on our return flight to New Jersey.   People keep asking us why we keep going back.  “Haven’t you seen it all? Haven’t you ridden all the rides?”   What they don’t understand is that we don’t often ride many rides, except for Spaceship Earth which we do on every trip.   Although we love the restaurants, and plan our resevations months in advance, we go for more than good food.  We keep going back because we are in a magical world, where all of the cast members are friendly and welcoming and treat everyone with kindness and respect, from little children to adults dressed in shorts and Disney tee-shirts, something we don’t always encounter in our day-to-day lives.   We go to live for ten days in a world of wonder, where every detail makes us smile.
